Grandma Jacklin's Carmels

You will need:
2/3 c sugar
3/4 c water
3 c sugar
1 1/4 c canned milk
1/2 c margarine
1 c chopped nuts

Heat 2/3 c sugar in a heavy frying pan until it has caramelized to a medium brown color. Add ¾ C water and stir and cook to a thin syrup. (when you add the water it will go hard but will soften as you cook it) add 3C sugar 1 ¼ C canned milk and cook to medium firm ball. Remove it from the heat, it will look curdled. Cool it fast by putting it in show or fridge. Add ½ C margarine and 1 C chopped nuts. Beat until it pops and gets thick, pour on a buttered plate and cut when firm.
